Bio
"Living the life of Riley" suggests an ideal life of prosperity and contentment, possibly living on someone else's money, time or work. Rather than a negative freeloading or golddigging aspect, it instead implies that someone is kept or advantaged. The expression was popular in the 1880s, a time when James Whitcomb Riley's poems depicted the comforts of a prosperous home life, but it has an Irish origin: After the Riley clan consolidated its hold on County Cavan, they minted their own money, accepted as legal tender even in England. These coins, called “O'Rileys” and “Riley's,” became synonymous with a monied person, and a gentleman freely spending was “living on his Rileys."

Born in the Blizzard of '79, the youngest child came forth as a blessed mistake, seven years after the birth of the one they thought would be the "only." She had a broken collarbone (look close at the left shoulder!) and was almost killed by the umbilical cord (true story, buy my mom a drink!). The result is a baby picture that looks like a cross between a cabbage patch doll, the Notre Dame Mascot and Popeye the Sailor baby.

Nowadays, I'm a 28 year old happily single female STILL living in the same house (someday I'll have my own!), but a college degree richer, a certified world traveler, a rennie, a best friend, a daughter, a godmother and aunt, a job holder, a Greater Baltimore Theatre Award Nominee and baker of a fine cottage pie. I might not be rich in coin, but I'm Livin' on me Rileys just fine :)
